Mahi Dattani
Forces: Tidal effect on the pond.
Provocation: The water levels of the pond fluctuate under the influence of the daily tidal cycle as well as with the seasonality. Along with the pond being a man made and controlled water source, the difference between the high and low tide is one of the main factors controlling the water level. During the low tide, the water recedes, exposing a part of the muddy ground and vegetation throughout the year. The monsoon season however causes the highest water levels of the year. Roaming becomes a seasonal choreography of movement and pause.
An elevated shelter or walkway having different access points with respect to the approach and accessibility that changes with the rise and lowering of water levels during the different seasons would become a responsive interface between land, water and time. Access to the structure would be a mix of ramps and steps as some areas may still be submerged at high tide, while others become exposed.
